Biopac `Smash-Proof` Tumblers prove hit with UK Venues

Released on: July 10, 2008, 3:30 am

Press Release Author: apt marketing and pr ltd.

Industry: Food & Beverage

Press Release Summary: Since Biopac launched the first disposable pint and ½ pint
tumblers to be awarded the CE Mark, they have been adopted by many of the UK’s
premier venues and have even gained Metropolitan Police approval!

Press Release Body: Biopac is the first company to achieve the CE Mark for pint and
½ pint tumblers, meeting rigorous Trading Standards regulations. This means licensed
premises can comply with the 2006 Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) and don’t
need measured beer pumps; a requirement for non-CE-marked tumblers.

The tumblers are 100% biodegradable and compostable, making them perfect for outdoor
events. The Metropolitan Police have endorsed the tumblers as they are completely
‘smash-proof’, will not splinter and cannot conceivably be used as weapons, making
them ideal for mass alcohol consumption.

The tumblers are made from cornstarch-derived Polylactic Acid and no petrochemicals
are used in their manufacture. As well as providing an environmentally responsible
alternative to conventional plastic tumblers, they also cost far less than
Polycarbonates; important to note with a ban on glasses in the offing.

Top sporting venues already using the tumblers include Twickenham, Edgebaston, The
Oval and Silverstone. Premier UK racecourses have also adopted them, including
Cheltenham, Newbury, Newmarket, Newcastle and York.
