Industry: Non Profit

Press Release Summary: The deadline is closing near for Bournemouth\'s Unsung Hero
Awards

Press Release Body: Do you know someone with a heart of gold who works tirelessly to
help others or to make Bournemouth a better place to live?
Bournemouth 2026 has teamed up with the Daily Echo to launch the Unsung Hero Awards.
Those eligible include individuals or groups who work within the Bournemouth
conurbation to encourage residents to live healthy lifestyles, those keeping the
town clean or green, improving community spirit, reducing crime or antisocial
behaviour or helping others less fortunate.
Organiser Clare Hickinbotham of Bournemouth 2026 said: “We want to celebrate those
amazing people in our community who, without financial incentive, give so much of
their time and energy to make life better for others.
“Whether it’s volunteers working for a particular cause, residents going above and
beyond for a club or project or those showing individual acts of kindness – we want
to hear your stories.”
The awards fall under six categories; Fighting Fit, Community Spirit, Crime Buster,
Clean and Green, Heart of Gold and Hero of the Year. Sponsors include JPMorgan, Dave
Wells Properties and Transdev Yellow Buses.
The Heart of Gold Award will go to an individual or group who has championed the
cause of others in their community.
All nominations received for the awards will automatically be entered into the Hero
of the Year category. The winner will be an individual or group who has made an
outstanding contribution, excelled in voluntary work or made a tangible difference
to an individual or the wider community.
Nomination forms are available for collection at the Echo’s reception in Richmond
Hill or can be sent via post by calling Clare Hickinbotham on 01202 436887. All
nominations must be received by July 7, 2008.
The winners will be announced during a special ceremony at the Carrington House
Hotel on September 16.
Bournemouth 2026, which works closely with Bournemouth Council, unites more than 190
local voluntary organisations, private companies and public services and
co-ordinates projects to make life better in the conurbation.
