Released on: April 2, 2008, 2:14 am

Press Release Author: Madan Sharma

Industry: Media

Press Release Summary: The team of the Heroes won the toss and elected to bat first.
The initial partnership between openers Maher and Razzaq was a short lived one but
it cannot be considered weak at any stage.

Press Release Body: In the last league match of the Edelweiss Challenge which was
being played between the Hyderabad Heroes and Mumbai Champs, the Heroes made a mark
with their 7 run victory. This made the Heroes stand at the second spot after the
Lahore Badshahs for the semi-final matches beginning on April 2nd.

The team of the Heroes won the toss and elected to bat first. The initial
partnership between openers Maher and Razzaq was a short lived one but it cannot be
considered weak at any stage. It was in the fifth over that Maher lost his wicket
and was dismissed at 26 runs off 18 balls. However the next man in, Rayadu came in
headstrong and stood by an even better partnership with Razzaq. It was a 121 run
stand which was broken by Iyer in the eighteenth over. Razzaq survived unbeaten till
the end of the innings and made 78 runs off 57 balls. The final score of the Heroes
came out to be 176 runs in the 20 overs.

The Champs started their batting after the break and the openers Jadhav and Paul
could both not survive very long on the field. However Patil and Morris established
a good partnership after departure of these two batsmen. Both scored a half century
but were dismissed in the eleventh and thirteenth over. Except for Mandale, it
seemed very difficult for the rest of the batsmen to establish themselves on the
field. It was difficult for them even to get past the 5 run mark. The situation
looked somewhat dangerous for the Heroes when the Champs needed 21 runs off 9 balls
but the last over gave two wicket blows to them, courtesy Razzaq. Razzaq was awarded
the Man of the Match award for his unbeaten 72 runs and the three important wickets
that he obtained.
