Fans launch worldwide appeal to free Sanjay Dutt

Dutt\'s 6 years jail sentence, a petition directed to the Indian Goverment and prime
minister has been posted on the internet by fans.


The online petition, written by a fan of Sanjay Dutt, asks that the Indian
Government free Sanjay Dutt. The site has begun to receive high support from
worldwide fans.

\"This petition is to call on the Indian goverment to set Sanjay Dutt Free\" the
petition says.

The 48-year-old was ordered by a judge on Tuesday 31 July 2007 to go to jail for 6
years.
Sanjay Dutt\'s arrest has put Rs. 1.5 billion of Bollywood business at stake.
The petition continues \"in 12 years Sanjay Dutt has never violated his bail
provisions, as well as become a good role model for India since, as well as paid 16
months in prison.\"

Sanjay Dutt is the son of the noteable Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt, who were one the
most well-known star couples. Sanjay Dutt has acted in several successfull films,
Vidhaata (1982), Naam (1986), Hathyar (1989), Sadak (1991) and Saajan (1991). He
received his first Filmfare nomination in film Saajan as the best actor in a lead
role. However his career breakthrough came in Subhash Ghai\'s Khalnayak (1993), which
was a huge hit and gave his career a boost and he received a filmfare nomination for
the film.
